Zelenskyy: Tomahawks Are Key to Forcing Russia to Talk

In a conversation with journalists, the President of Ukraine presented the situation on the front line, revealed the successes of the newest Ukrainian weapons, and touched upon relations with the US, making a number of noteworthy statements.
Zelenskyy announced that a high-ranking Ukrainian delegation, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, will travel to the US in the coming week. The negotiation agenda will be extremely packed, covering issues of vital importance to Ukraine: the supply of air defense systems, strengthening energy security, tightening sanctions against Russia, and developing mechanisms for using frozen Russian assets.
Zelenskyy specifically emphasized the importance of the American Tomahawk long-range missiles. He is convinced that their provision to Ukraine could become the decisive factor that will force the Russian side to "sober up" and finally sit down at the real negotiating table. Before that, he detailed the latest achievements of Ukraine's defense industry and the successful operations of the Armed Forces. He confirmed that the Ukrainian counter-offensive is not only continuing but has also thwarted Russia's strategic plans to capture Pokrovsk. Particular attention was drawn to Ukraine's growing ability to strike targets deep inside Russia. Zelenskyy confirmed that the "Neptune" and "Flamingo" missile pair had been successfully used in the past week. "I will not specify the number, but there has been use. You can analyze the corresponding results for yourselves. This is not yet mass use, but it is a fact that the use of our this weapon is already yielding the first tangible results," he noted.
In addition, Zelenskyy revealed the names of several other new weapons and their successes. The "Palyanytsia" system has successfully hit enemy military warehouses in dozens of cases, indicating that this is no longer a unique case but systematic work. The "Ruta" missile-drone, in turn, for the first time hit a sea platform at a distance of more than 250 km.
"But the biggest success is 'Lyutiy' (Fire Point). There has been its mass use—up to 300 units, and that was a serious operation. We understand that Ust-Luga, Primorsk are accessible. I think this is a really big success," concluded the President of Ukraine. As a result of these strikes, according to him, a gasoline deficit is already being observed in Russia, reaching up to 20% of demand.
Against this background, Zelenskyy sent a clear warning to Moscow: Kyiv has the ability to strike the Belgorod and Kursk regions. "If Russia organizes 'blackouts' for us, it will definitely receive an equivalent response," he stressed.
On the issue of joining the European Union, according to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has the support of 26 EU countries. The only obstacle remains Hungary, whose position, in the president's opinion, is conditioned by internal elections.
Referring to relations with US President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy described them as warm and constructive. "After the meeting with Trump, the dialogue continues at various levels. Despite the temperature outside, our relations with the US are warm," he noted. In this context, Zelenskyy made a surprise proposal, stating that Ukraine is ready to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if he can ensure a stable ceasefire and the establishment of peace.
