We Need the EU, but They Also Need Us: Zelenskyy

On August 24, Ukraine celebrates its Independence Day. In his address on this occasion, Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the ongoing war with Russia.

"Ukraine will never again be forced to accept the disgrace that the Russians call a compromise," said Zelenskyy. "We need a just peace. Only we will decide our future," said the President of Ukraine in his address on Independence Day. Zelenskyy expressed confidence that at the end of the war, Ukraine will receive security guarantees "so powerful that it would not even cross anyone's mind in the world to attack Ukraine."

"We say, 'We need the EU.' Yes! But they need us no less. And everyone accepts that. That's how they accept Ukraine. Not as a poor relative, but as a powerful ally," he added.
