Zelenskyy: Russia Uses Tankers for Sabotage in Europe

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made a statement accusing Russia of using its civilian tanker fleet not only to finance the war against Ukraine but also to conduct large-scale intelligence and even sabotage activities in Europe. He wrote about this on his Telegram channel, summarizing the results of a meeting with the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleg Ivashchenko.

Zelenskyy emphasized that today, Russian tankers serve a dual purpose. "Now the Russians are using tankers not only to earn money for the war but also for intelligence and even sabotage activities. It is entirely possible to prevent this," he stressed. Earlier, Zelenskyy had also stated that Russia uses tankers to launch unmanned aerial vehicles at European countries.

Also on the agenda of the meeting with Ivashchenko were specific issues aimed at tightening sanctions against Russia. In particular, it was discussed which sanction evasion schemes should be stopped as a matter of priority.

In addition, Zelenskyy also gave the head of intelligence another important instruction directly related to the situation on the front line. "I have instructed the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service to also work with partners in areas that can ensure more real supplies of necessary weapons and equipment for Ukraine," noted Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
