Repair work to restore the external power supply to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant will take approximately one week. This is reported by the French newspaper Le Monde, citing the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
According to the agency, specialists have already begun repair work after demining the area. Currently, two cables of the power transmission line that went out of service on May 7 are being restored. It is planned to begin repairing the section that was damaged on September 23 at the end of the upcoming weekend. It was that accident that led to the complete power outage of the station, which creates serious risks for nuclear safety.
The IAEA clarified that the repair work is being carried out at facilities around the ZNPP site, where external power lines were damaged as a result of shelling. The presence of stable external power sources, which ensure the uninterrupted operation of the reactor cooling systems, is vital for the safe operation of the plant.
