"Zapad-2025": Russia Deploys Long-Range Bombers
13 SEP 2025 07:47
On the 2nd day of the "Zapad-2025" exercises, the crews of the Tu-22M3 long-range bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out an airstrike on the objects of a conditional enemy during the "West-2025" exercises. An episode of launching an airstrike on a conditional enemy was played out with a scenario of disrupting the command system and destroying the most important objects.
In another episode, the crews of the "Bastion" coastal missile systems, part of the tactical group of the RF Northern Fleet, which are deployed on Alexandra Land island of the Franz Josef Archipelago, launched a missile strike with "Oniks" cruise missiles on a sea target that simulated a group of ships of a conditional enemy.
According to objective control data, the designated targets were destroyed by direct hits from the cruise missiles.
The "Bastion" coastal missile systems with "Oniks" supersonic anti-ship missiles make it possible to create access and maneuver restriction zones in the Arctic and ensure the protection of the coastal zone over a length of more than 600 kilometers. Their deployment to combat positions takes only a few minutes. The self-guided cruise missile moves towards the target at a speed 2.5 times faster than the speed of sound, and it is practically invulnerable to modern air defense-missile defense systems and is capable of hitting a combat ship of any capacity at a distance of several hundred kilometers.
To recall, the joint exercise of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus, "West-2025," began on September 12. This exercise is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the two countries in the current year.
