The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, made a number of harsh statements during a briefing, accusing the Ukrainian authorities and the West of deliberately escalating the conflict, as well as touching upon the sovereignty of a number of European countries and the situation around Iran. According to Zakharova, President Zelenskyy and his Western patrons have no will to resolve the conflict and continue the policy of conscious escalation of the confrontation with the Russian Federation. She emphasized that Kyiv will not be able to end the conflict through weapons. The Moscow representative also accused Poland, noting that Warsaw has for years been destabilizing the situation in Ukraine in order to provoke a confrontation with Russia.
Referring to Kyiv's domestic policy, Zakharova described it as "monstrous dehumanization," insisting that the Ukrainian authorities are whitewashing the crimes that took place in Babi Yar 84 years ago.
A number of European countries also came under Zakharova's criticism. According to her, the situation in Moldova after the elections shows that the country is turning into a colony of the West. In the same context, she stated that one can only speak of the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Germany conditionally.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also commented on the situation around Iran, insisting that the UN Secretariat has exceeded its authority by announcing the "restoration" of the sanctions resolution against Iran. Zakharova stressed that the actions of the West in the UN Security Council on the issue of sanctions against Iran are legally null and void and do not create any obligations for other countries.
