It is planned to make a redistribution and amendment to the law on the state budget of the Republic of Armenia, which provides for the acquisition of 45 new trolleybuses and 104 elevators. The trolleybuses will replace 30 trolleybuses that have been in use for 18 years. It is proposed to pay 30 percent as an advance for the 45 trolleybuses. The draft decision on this was presented by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, at the Government session on September 18.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan confirmed that the tender has taken place, there are already 30 trolleybuses purchased, and with the 45 new trolleybuses that will be purchased with the support of the Government, the trolleybus fleet will be completely renewed.
"We will no longer have old trolleybuses in the city," noted Avinyan, adding that after the allocation of financial resources, it is expected that in the first quarter of 2026, all 45 trolleybuses will be in Yerevan and will be on new routes.
As for the elevators, 507 elevators will be replaced in Yerevan by the end of this year. "By maintaining this same pace for another 3 years, and making a slightly larger purchase in the third year, we are re-equipping the elevator fund in the city of Yerevan, and not a trace of the old elevator fund will remain," he said.
