The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) has become an important force contributing to the construction of a new type of international relations, Chinese leader Xi Jinping stated on August 31, during a reception for high-ranking guests of the SCO summit.
"Since its founding, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation has consistently upheld the 'Shanghai Spirit,' strengthened unity and mutual trust, deepened practical cooperation, and participated in international and regional affairs," Xi Jinping said.
The Chinese leader emphasized that the SCO "has become a significant force contributing to the construction of a new type of international relations and the formation of a community with a shared future for mankind."
He also expressed confidence that the union's summit in Tianjin will give new impetus to the stable development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
It should be recalled that the largest summit in the organization's history is taking place in the Chinese city of Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, with the participation of the leaders of more than 20 foreign states, as well as representatives of international organizations.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is an international organization founded in 2001. Its members include India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan, and at the summit in Astana on July 4, 2024, Belarus officially joined the organization.
The observer countries are Afghanistan and Mongolia, and the dialogue partner states are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Cambodia, Qatar, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.
