WhatsApp to Launch "Guest Chats" Feature for Non-Users
6 AUG 2025 16:30
WhatsApp is preparing to launch a new feature called "Guest Chats." It will allow communication with people who do not use the application. International media outlets report this.
The feature is currently in the testing phase, and the release date is not yet known.
How will the "Guest Chats" feature work?
The new feature works with the following mechanism:
- A WhatsApp user creates a new chat and selects the "Guest Chat" option.
- The application generates a link that can be sent via SMS, email, or any other application.
- By following the link in the message, the unregistered user accesses the WhatsApp web interface, a chat opens, and it becomes possible to start communicating.
This option only allows for communication in the form of text messages; video calls, voice messages, and sending media files are not possible.
The chat has no time limit, and the data is fully protected, just like regular WhatsApp correspondence.
Sending messages does not require registration, but if the interlocutor later registers on WhatsApp, they can save the conversation history.
What is the marketing significance of creating this new feature?
This idea from Meta is an important marketing strategy because:
- WhatsApp will increase its audience without forcing users to register or download the application.
- The feature is particularly important for regions where WhatsApp's rating is lower than that of Telegram or iMessage.
- The function operates within WhatsApp, which ensures more comfortable and secure communication.
WhatsApp also promises other new features
Recently, the application has been frequently updating its capabilities. Here are a few of them:
- Event Guests – The ability to invite guests to events in group or individual chats.
- Group Improvements – Real-time activity indicators, notification adjustments, the ability to join calls directly.
- Document Scanning (iOS)
- Enhanced Privacy – Chat lock, managing auto-download of media, message protection from AI.
