Russia's Largest Baltic Terminal Paralyzed After Attack

After an attack by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, the largest gas condensate processing complex of "Novatek" in the Russian port of Ust-Luga has completely ceased operations. Reuters reports this, citing sources in the industry. According to the agency, a fire broke out at the enterprise as a result of the strike, and part of the production capacity was put out of commission.
The situation at the enterprise remains uncertain. The complex's operation has been completely halted. According to Reuters' sources, "Novatek" will be forced to reduce oil exports. Instead of processed products, the company plans to export stable gas condensate. Previously, about 420,000 tons of oil were exported from that terminal per month.
The Ust-Luga complex was commissioned in 2023. Initially, two plants operated there, each with a capacity to process 3 million tons of raw material per year. In August 2024, "Novatek" launched a third plant with the same capacity, which significantly increased export volumes.
To recall, in January 2024, unmanned aerial vehicles had already attacked the Ust-Luga terminal of "Novatek," which also resulted in a fire, and processing was stopped for about a month. Work resumed only in February 2025.
