US Approves $179M Sale of Patriot Systems to Ukraine

The US State Department has approved the possible foreign military sale to the Government of Ukraine of Patriot air defense systems and related equipment. The total amount is more than 179 million dollars. This is stated in the announcement of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) of the Pentagon.

It is noted that the Defense Security Cooperation Agency has provided the necessary certification and has informed Congress about it.

The Government of Ukraine had requested to purchase equipment and services supporting the Patriot air defense systems.

This deal will include classified and unclassified spare parts, technical support, classified and unclassified software, communication equipment and related accessories, as well as integration, repair and return services, a field supervision program, technical assistance from representatives of the US government and contractors, training, and more.

"This proposed sale will contribute to the implementation of the foreign policy and national security goals of the United States by enhancing the security of a partner country that is a driving force for political stability and economic progress in Europe," the message reads.
