High-level negotiations between the US and Ukraine have concluded in Geneva, focusing on the peace plan proposed by the American side. According to a joint statement, the parties have made significant progress in harmonizing their positions and have developed an "updated and improved framework document" for peace.
The meeting held in Geneva on November 23, 2025, as noted in the joint statement, took place in a constructive, focused, and respectful atmosphere. Both sides assessed the consultations as "extremely productive," emphasizing their shared commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace.
"We came here with one goal: to reduce the number of unresolved points. We have significantly achieved that goal," commented US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the results of the negotiations. He added that there is still work to be done to finalize the document, and it must be approved by the presidents of both countries.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties developed an updated and improved framework document for peace. According to The New York Times, the initial 28-point plan proposed by the Donald Trump administration underwent changes during the negotiations, and the current working version differs from the version previously published on the internet. What specific changes have been made is not yet detailed.
During the negotiations, the parties reaffirmed that any future agreement must fully respect Ukraine's sovereignty and ensure a lasting and just peace. The Ukrainian delegation expressed its gratitude to the United States and personally to President Donald Trump for their firm commitment to ending the war and human losses.
In the coming days, the US and Ukraine will continue intensive work on the joint proposals. It is also planned to maintain close contact with European partners as the process progresses. The final decisions will be made by the presidents of Ukraine and the United States. The parties reaffirmed their readiness to work together to achieve a peace that ensures Ukraine's security, stability, and recovery.
