US, Russia Submit Rival UN Resolutions on Gaza

Disagreements have once again arisen in the UN Security Council over the strategy for resolving the conflict in the Gaza Strip. The United States has presented an official resolution that corresponds to President Donald Trump's peace plan. A vote on that document could take place as early as next week.

However, Russia has presented its own resolution, which, among other things, provides for the immediate recognition of Palestine as a state. China has made it clear that it intends to support this document.

Since Russia and China, along with the US, also have veto power in the Security Council, a "no" vote from them would mean the American resolution would not be adopted, creating a deadlock. A way out of this deadlock is not yet visible.
