American military personnel struck a vessel during a special operation in the Caribbean Sea, resulting in the deaths of three people. This was announced by the head of the Pentagon, who noted that the targeted vessel was operated by a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking. The operation, conducted in international waters, is a clear signal of Washington's determination to eradicate drug smuggling routes.
The head of the Department of Defense, Hegseth, described the incident in a post on the social platform X as a "lethal strike." His words are quoted by the Reuters agency. According to the official statement, the vessel was detected on a known smuggling route and was suspected of transporting a large batch of drugs. The U.S. armed forces, having received the appropriate command, carried out a precision strike, completely neutralizing the target.
It is noteworthy that this operation was under the highest level of control. According to the head of the Pentagon, the operation was personally directed by U.S. President Donald Trump. Conducting the operation in international waters, from a legal standpoint, allows the U.S. to act more freely, without accusations of violating the sovereignty of other states.
