US Halts Direct Funding for Ukraine's War Effort

White House representatives have announced that, by President Donald Trump's decision, Washington has officially halted direct funding for the conflict in Ukraine. This move is consistent with Trump's numerous previous statements that the US should no longer fund Kyiv without compensation but should operate on a more pragmatic basis.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt detailed the situation in a conversation with reporters. According to her, although President Trump has stopped the direct financing of the war, the United States continues to send or sell large quantities of weaponry to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). This mechanism allows the US to receive money for the supplies, a point Donald Trump has repeatedly insisted on. However, a clear warning also comes from Washington: this process cannot last forever. "We cannot do this forever," Leavitt emphasized, hinting that the current volumes and pace of arms sales through NATO may be revised over time.
In parallel with financial and military issues, the diplomatic front is also intensifying. The White House has stated that the US is interested in the speediest possible implementation of a Ukrainian settlement. An American peace plan is on the negotiating table, the vast majority of whose points are essentially developed. Nevertheless, there are still "a few points" on which disagreements between the parties exist. The American side clearly recognizes the reality: any peace plan will be viable only if it is agreed upon with the Russian Federation. Washington hopes that Russia will ultimately approve the proposed plan.
President Trump, according to official sources, is optimistic about the possibility of ending the conflict. It is noted that he is demonstrating "sufficient flexibility" when discussing the terms of the settlement, trying to find common ground with all parties. The negotiation process is assessed as intensive and ongoing. Trump is personally conducting negotiations with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The White House described the recent negotiations between the US and Ukrainian delegations as "very effective," indicating some progress. However, despite active communications and phone calls, there are currently no concrete plans for organizing a personal meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy. The main goal of the American administration remains unchanged: to achieve the establishment of peace, taking into account the existing realities and protecting US interests.
