US "Doesn't Rule Out" New Trump-Putin Meeting in Future
24 OCT 2025 05:46
The upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was planned in Hungary and was canceled, is not yet considered a finally lost opportunity in Washington. According to the White House, no new meeting is planned in the near future, but they do not rule out that they will make a new attempt to organize such a meeting later. The reason for the cancellation was the disagreements between the parties on the terms of the ceasefire in Ukraine. The day before, Zelenskyy also admitted that his opinion also played a role in the cancellation of that meeting.
Previously, the White House had described the meeting of the two leaders as historic, but recent developments testify to the serious obstacles in the negotiation process. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia would not agree to a "freezing" of the front lines, effectively confirming that the tough position of the Russian side was the main reason for the cancellation of the meeting.
At the same time, the White House did not rule out the activation of relations with Beijing. US President's Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt announced the possibility of holding a meeting between the President of China, Xi Jinping, in the near future. The topic is relevant, given the US-China customs war, which is gradually covering new areas.
The situation is not calm on the American continent either. Here, too, Trump has declared war on drug traffickers. The US President has stated that he considers the prospect of launching "ground operations" against drug traffickers in Venezuela to be likely.
