South Korea has completed negotiations with the United States regarding the return of its citizens arrested during an immigration raid at a Hyundai factory, reports Yonhap News. Seoul will send a charter plane to transport them back to their homeland.
The country will also seek to improve the US visa policy towards its citizens who are on business trips.
Federal agents arrested more than 300 South Korean citizens who were working on the construction of an electric vehicle battery factory in Georgia. The raid became the largest operation on a single site in the history of the US Department of Homeland Security.
This step has caused outrage in South Korea, which is a major investor in the US. If Washington sincerely wants to attract investments from South Korean companies, arrests of this scale against Korean citizens should not have happened, the statement of South Korean lawmakers notes.
