The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution submitted by the United States, which is based on President Donald Trump's peace plan for the settlement of the Gaza conflict. It provides for the deployment of international peacekeeping forces in the Gaza Strip, as well as defines steps towards the future creation of an independent Palestinian state.
Of the 15 member countries of the Security Council, 13 voted in favor of this initiative. It is noteworthy that the Russian Federation and China, which have veto power, did not block the adoption of the resolution, but both countries abstained from voting.
