The UN report about the fact that almost no one reads UN reports

An internal report aimed at increasing the efficiency of the UN has been compiled, which was presented on August 1, 2025. It was prepared by the "UN80" reform working group, created on the eve of the organization's 80th anniversary with the aim of reviewing and improving the UN's working procedures.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres, presenting the results of the report, expressed his concern about the enormous number of meetings held and reports published. He emphasized that this volume overloads the system and leads to the inefficient use of resources.

As reported by the organization's Secretary-General António Guterres, in 2023 the UN held thousands of meetings and produced 1100 reports, which is 20% more than in 1990, reports Reuters. However, only 5% of them were downloaded more than 5500 times, while one in five reports did not even gather a thousand downloads.
