UN Chief: No Quick End to Ukraine War in Sight

It is unlikely that the war in Ukraine will be ended quickly. This was stated by UN Secretary-General António Guterres. His press conference is published on the organization's official website. As the Secretary-General noted, the positions of the parties are incompatible on many issues.

"I am not optimistic in the short term, because I see that the positions of the two sides are very different, very different," he emphasized. Guterres clarified that the UN continues to maintain a clear position, which provides for an immediate ceasefire that will lead to a peace agreement.

"I fear that we may witness... this war continuing for some more time," he added.
