Ukrainian Drones vs. Russian Oil: A "Genius" Strategy

Ukraine, by targeting objects of Russia's oil and gas industry, has caused about 100 billion dollars in economic damage, adopting a strategy aimed at disrupting the Kremlin's war machine and bringing the reality of the conflict to ordinary Russians. Military expert Philip Ingram stated this, according to The Sun. According to Ingram, these attacks carried out by Ukraine are a "genius move," which, although risky, are aimed at destabilizing Russia and, ultimately, "decapitating Putin's war machine." The expert emphasizes that this tactic aims to change the Russian public's perception of the war.
"For two years, most Russians saw the war only on state television; it did not affect their daily lives in any way. Now, when drones hit the country's territory and reports of rising fuel prices at gas stations appear, the conflict becomes a tangible reality for ordinary citizens," Ingram noted.
In his opinion, this war against Russian oil threatens to cause a severe fuel shortage, which in turn will create "huge pressure" on Moscow's ability to continue combat operations. Targeting the key branch of the Russian economy not only hits the Kremlin's financial flows, which are necessary to wage the war, but also creates internal logistical and social problems. Russia already has restrictions on gasoline exports, which shows that, at least in some part, Kyiv's tactic of hitting the Russian economy is yielding results.
