Protests in Ukraine Over Anti-Corruption Law

24 JUL 2025 08:54
Mass protests against the controversial bill signed by Zelensky do not stop in Ukraine. With these changes, as part of the reforms to bring Ukraine closer to Western anti-corruption standards, the agencies created will be subordinated to the Prosecutor General. Rallies are taking place in Kyiv and a number of other Ukrainian cities.
On July 23, several thousand people gathered in Kyiv on Ivan Franko Square, not far from the Office of the President of Ukraine. They are demanding that Ukraine's anti-corruption bodies be protected from interference and pressure.
European allies have also criticized Kyiv for adopting this law.
The meeting with Zelensky was not convincing for the representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office: after the discussion, these agencies called for the restoration of their independence.
