Ukrainian land is not for sale, sovereignty is not subject to discussion, and peace is possible only on the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine." Khrystyna Hayovyshyn, Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, made such a statement at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
She noted that Kyiv is ready for constructive work on a "peace plan" but has clearly defined the main "red lines" that are non-negotiable for the Ukrainian side.
The principled positions presented on behalf of Ukraine are as follows:
Ukraine does not agree to the reduction of the size of its Armed Forces.
Kyiv is against a ban on joining NATO or any other alliance.
Ukraine will not recognize Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia as Russian.
Kyiv will refuse to make concessions that "undermine Ukrainian identity," including on the language issue.
In addition to these fundamental points, the Ukrainian diplomat also mentioned a clear precondition for the start of the negotiation process. According to her, any substantive discussion can begin only after a complete ceasefire is established along the front line.
