Typhoon Bolaven Kills More Than 10 People in Vietnam

At least 12 people have died in the northern and central regions of Vietnam as a result of Typhoon "Bolaven," which came from the Philippines. This was reported by the local news portal VnExpress. Another 17 people are considered missing. In particular, contact has been lost with 17 fishermen who went out to sea in three boats, the information source notes. According to the portal, the central province of Thanh Hoa was the most affected. Hundreds of homes have been partially destroyed there, telecommunication towers and power lines have been damaged, as a result of which a significant part of the region has been left without electricity and telephone communication. The storm also smashed and damaged dozens of cars.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting of Vietnam reported that the storm caused heavy rains in the central and northern parts of Vietnam, including the capital Hanoi and a number of northern provinces. The department warned of a high risk of flooding and floods in coastal areas, as well as the danger of landslides in mountainous areas in the coming days.
