Turkey's Special Envoy Serdar Kılıç Arrives in Armenia

The special representative of Turkey in the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations, Serdar Kılıç, has arrived in Armenia. The information was confirmed by the spokesperson of the RA MFA, Ani Badalyan. "The special representative for the normalization of relations with Turkey, Ruben Rubinyan, welcomed the special representative of Turkey for normalization issues, Serdar Kılıç, at the border of Armenia and Turkey, near the Margara checkpoint," Badalyan noted.

Earlier, the special representative of Turkey for the normalization of relations with Armenia, Kılıç, had also announced his visit to Armenia and the likely agenda. He informed journalists about this, emphasizing the importance of discussing economic cooperation between the two countries. He also made a special reference to the regional routes that will pass through Armenia.

"I hope that in the short term we will be able to open this line and thus contribute to the development of both Armenian-Turkish relations and the economy of regions such as Iğdır and Kars," said Kılıç. He also noted that the Armenian side "has a warm attitude" towards the initiative and has expressed readiness to open the border. However, he stressed that for the implementation of a number of projects, it is necessary to resolve technical issues.

The representative of Turkey had announced that he would cross the Armenian-Turkish checkpoint, but the meetings will take place in Yerevan.
