Trump Won't Attend First Putin-Zelenskyy Meeting
19 AUG 2025 13:21
Trump has announced that he does not plan to participate in the first meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy. It will take place in a bilateral format. The head of the White House also made a number of other statements in an interview with Fox News.
Accordingly, Zelenskyy must show flexibility in the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. During the negotiations, decisions will be made by Putin and Zelenskyy; the US is far from the conflict. Both the return of Crimea to Ukraine and Kyiv's membership in NATO are impossible. Trump guaranteed that as long as he holds the office of US President, there will be no American troops in Ukraine.
France and Germany want to deploy their forces in Ukraine, and this will not create problems with Russia, the US President assured.
Ukraine's security guarantees cannot include NATO, but the US is ready to help Europe in this matter. Trump described his conversation with Putin as very good, following the meetings with the Europeans and Zelenskyy.
