Trump to Step Back From Russia-Ukraine Talks Temporarily

US President Donald Trump intends to temporarily stay away from negotiations on the Russian-Ukrainian settlement to give Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy the opportunity to organize a bilateral meeting on their own. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper, citing a source in the Trump administration.

According to the source, Trump plans to take a "wait-and-see position" to see if such a meeting is possible.

On August 19, the American leader stated that all decisions regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine should be made by Putin and Zelenskyy, as the US is too far from the site of the military operations.
