Trump: Thailand and Cambodia Agree to Ceasefire Talks
27 JUL 2025 08:17
US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to meet immediately and reach an agreement on a ceasefire.
"I just had a very good phone call with the Prime Minister of Cambodia and informed him of my conversations with Thailand and their Prime Minister. Both sides are seeking an immediate ceasefire and peace. They also want to return to the 'negotiating table' with the United States, which, in our opinion, is inappropriate before the cessation of hostilities. When everything is over and peace is established, I look forward to signing our trade agreements with both countries," Trump noted.
The border tension between Thailand and Cambodia escalated into an armed conflict on the morning of July 24. The sides exchanged artillery strikes and used military aviation. There are dead and wounded on both sides, including civilians.
