Trump Reverses Course, Backs Release of All Epstein Files
17 NOV 2025 08:45
US President Donald Trump has called on Republicans in the House of Representatives to vote in favor of the full disclosure of all documents in the case of billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sex trafficking, despite the fact that his own name has been repeatedly mentioned in the correspondence. This development was preceded by a video message from Epstein's victims to Congress, in which they demanded a vote to make the case materials public.
On the "Truth Social" social network, Trump wrote: "We have nothing to hide. It's time to move on." He emphasized that it is time to put an end to this "Democratic hoax."
This sharp change in Trump's position came just three days after he had spoken out against the publications, arguing that "Epstein was a Democrat, and that's their problem." According to ABC News, this U-turn by the head of the White House occurred at a time when up to 100 Republican congressmen had expressed their willingness to vote in favor of disclosing all materials.
Tensions escalated on November 12, after the publication of tens of thousands of new emails from Epstein, which were made public by Democratic congressmen. In those emails, Trump's name is mentioned in an ambiguous context, ranging from the phrase "No one is worse than Trump" to the cryptic formulation "I am the only one who can destroy him." In another episode, it is mentioned that Trump once spent "a few hours" with one of Epstein's famous victims, Virginia Giuffre, at the billionaire's home.
Against the backdrop of the scandal, Trump also demanded an investigation into Bill Clinton, who, according to the media, has repeatedly flown on Epstein's private jets. Thus, the Epstein case continues to be at the center of US political life, involving high-ranking representatives of both parties.
