Trump has instructed the Pentagon to "rebuild the US armed forces" against the backdrop of the rapprochement between Russia and China. This was announced by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on Fox News.

According to him, these countries have grown closer as a result of the weakness of the Biden administration. "Unfortunately, the weakness of the previous administration brought Russia and China closer together. This was a terrible event, conditioned by the lack of American leadership and strength," Hegseth emphasized.

"We must rebuild our armed forces in a historic way, restore our deterrent power—not because we are looking for conflict. We are not doing that. And we have clearly shown that to China, Russia, and others. But because by being prepared, we prevent conflict. We ensure the security of the American people," he said.

At the same time, he noted that Trump "has excellent relations with Xi Jinping," and Washington "will use that, hoping to find ways of joint work."
