Trump and Medvedev Clash Over Alleged Submarine Deployment

1 OCT 2025 06:02
A sharp exchange of words has begun in absentia between former US President Donald Trump and Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, regarding the alleged deployment of American nuclear submarines off Russian shores. The parties have exchanged harsh statements.
It all started with a statement by Donald Trump, in which he described how he responded to Russia's "nuclear" threats. "Not too long ago, Russia was threatening us in a certain way. And I sent nuclear submarines. I did it in response to his mention of the word 'nuclear.' It was a stupid person who works for Putin. And I sent one or two submarines off the coast of Russia. Just as a precaution. We can't let people throw that word around everywhere," Trump said, apparently referring to Dmitry Medvedev, who is known for his harsh and periodic statements about the use of nuclear weapons.
The Russian side's reaction was not long in coming. Dmitry Medvedev, in his characteristic sarcastic style, commented on Trump's words, considering them baseless.
"Trump has again mentioned the submarines that he allegedly 'sent to the Russian shores,' claiming that they are 'very well hidden.' As they say, it's hard to find a black cat in a dark room, especially if it's not there," Medvedev wrote.
