Trump Heads to Asia for APEC Summit and Meeting with Xi

US President Donald Trump is traveling to Asia to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This is his first visit to the region since his re-election. The meeting will take place against the backdrop of growing trade tensions, with the US and China imposing new tariffs on each other. Beijing, however, has stated that it continues to maintain close ties with Washington.
