Trump Didn't Embellish News of Russia's Weakness: NY Post

US President Donald Trump's recent sensational statements that Russia is a "paper tiger" and that Ukraine can retake all its occupied territories are based on new US intelligence data. The New York Post reports this, citing its sources.
According to the publication, new intelligence reports show that the Russian Federation, as a result of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, is rapidly moving towards economic collapse and military defeat. It is this information that underlies Trump's assertion that Russia's military power is significantly overestimated.
At the same time, Trump's other statement, about the possibility of Ukraine reclaiming all its territories, according to the New York Post, also has tactical significance. According to the publication's source, this is the president's latest "strategic move" aimed at forcing Russia to the negotiating table. "This is not a signal of any significant policy change. This is a clear and obvious negotiating tactic aimed at putting pressure on Russia," the source told the newspaper.
By this logic, the sharp change in Trump's rhetoric, according to the American press, has a dual purpose. On the one hand, it is based on real intelligence data showing the depletion of the Kremlin's resources and its military failures. On the other hand, it serves as a powerful diplomatic tool to show Moscow that the West is confident in Ukraine's victory and is ready to continue its support, which should push Russia towards substantive negotiations to end the war.
