Tourists in Turkey Infected with Dangerous Vibrio Bacteria

Dozens of tourists on the beaches of Alanya and Belek have been infected with the dangerous Vibrio bacteria. The bacterium multiplies in warm salt water and enters the gastrointestinal system through crustaceans.

Those affected complain of vomiting, weakness, and fever above 38°C. In Alanya, ambulances are overwhelmed, and mass cases of the illness are being recorded in hotels.

At SY Hotels Belek, most guests have shown symptoms, and at Selectum Noa Belek, an entire family is receiving intravenous treatment.

The condition of some vacationers improved only after receiving treatment at local clinics, while some tourists left Turkey unrecovered, taking the infection to Russia.
