Tomahawk Missiles for Ukraine: A Matter of Months

Discussions surrounding the potential supply of American-made "Tomahawk" cruise missiles to Ukraine have entered a new phase, filled with uncertainty and cautious forecasts. According to an analysis by the prestigious British publication The Telegraph, even if Washington finally gives the green light for the transfer of this strategic weapon, the process itself will not be quick and could take several months. This circumstance creates additional tension and complicates Kyiv's defense planning, forcing it to wait for a decision that could fundamentally change the balance of power.
The situation is complicated not only by the prospect of long delivery times but also by the uncertainty surrounding the conditions for their use. According to the publication's source, it is not at all guaranteed that after receiving the missiles, Kyiv will have permission to use them freely. This means that Washington could impose strict restrictions on their use, allowing them to be employed only against specific targets or in certain circumstances.
This ambiguity forces the Ukrainian side to be cautious. As the publication notes, there is no complete confidence in Kyiv that these missiles will be transferred to them at all. This unpredictable atmosphere was aptly described by Yegor Chernev, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on National Security. In his opinion, absolutely any move can be expected from U.S. President Trump. The scenarios range between the most extreme options, from a complete refusal of supplies to a phased and gradual transfer of "Tomahawk" missiles.
Moreover, Russia is following these developments no less attentively than Ukraine. Receiving and using the new weapon system would allow Kyiv to carry the war deep into Russian territory, which is currently unreachable with the weapons Ukraine possesses.
