Thailand-Cambodia Clashes Risk Escalating Into War

The Royal Thai Army reported on social media that the latest attempt by Cambodian troops to retake the territory occurred at midnight but was repelled. Despite ongoing attacks, Thai forces have maintained their positions.

Lieutenant General Mali Socheath, spokesman for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, stated: "Thailand has expanded its offensive operations into areas of Cambodia that are outside the initial conflict zone."

According to him, since July 24, Thai troops have been striking not only Cambodian military positions but also civilian objects, including schools and residential areas. Heavy munitions and military equipment, including F-16 fighters and cluster bombs, were used in these attacks.

"These actions clearly demonstrate Thailand's intention to expand the conflict and violate Cambodia's territorial sovereignty," emphasized the representative of the Cambodian Ministry of Defense.
