Ter-Petrosyan to Pashinyan: "Publish the Documents"

24 SEP 2025 09:36
At a conference dedicated to his 80th birthday at the Matenadaran, the first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, answering journalists' questions, made a number of noteworthy statements regarding the invitation to a debate with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the differences between his and the current government's policies on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, and the upcoming political race.
Responding to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's invitation to a debate, Levon Ter-Petrosyan put forward his long-standing demand instead of a debate. "All the documents regarding Karabakh are in his hands, I have said it 100 times - let him publish them. If he publishes those documents, the dispute will be over, because everything is stated there," he declared, emphasizing that the publication of the documents would reveal the entire history of the negotiation process and put an end to speculation.
The first president categorically denied the view that Pashinyan is following the peace agenda proposed by him.
"Comparing my and his versions of the Karabakh solution is false. My Karabakh policy has nothing to do with the policy he is pursuing," noted the First President.
According to Ter-Petrosyan, Pashinyan destroyed all previously negotiated theses when he declared in Stepanakert, "Artsakh is Armenia, and that's it," which, according to the first president, brought war.
To the journalists' observation that Pashinyan is considered his "spiritual son" because he stood by him in 2008, Ter-Petrosyan replied:
"So many people stood by me in 2008... They worked very well at that time, Nikol too."

To the question about the future and possible solutions, the first president gave a laconic answer: "There is always a way out." As for the possible participation of the Armenian National Congress in the upcoming parliamentary elections and his personal involvement, Ter-Petrosyan avoided a clear answer, urging journalists to direct the question to ANC Vice-President Levon Zurabyan.
