Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to Address UN General Assembly

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has traveled to the US for a significant visit, within the framework of which he will deliver a speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

Al-Sharaa came to power in December when his group led a coalition that overthrew Syria's long-time president, Bashar al-Assad. Thus, al-Sharaa will become the first Syrian leader to address the UN General Assembly since Nureddin al-Atassi's speech in 1967.
