In Sweden's northernmost city, Kiruna, a unique project is being carried out: the church building, built in 1912, which is 35 meters high, 40 meters wide, and weighs 672 tons, has been completely moved from one end of the city to the other, loaded onto a huge wheeled platform.
At one time, this church was recognized as the most beautiful building built in Sweden before 1950. The need to move the 113-year-old church arose from the threat of ground subsidence due to cracks caused by more than a century of mining activity.
Kiruna is located 145 km north of the Arctic Circle.
