Suicide Bomber Behind New Delhi Car Explosion

The powerful explosion that rocked the center of India's capital, New Delhi, on November 10, causing panic among residents, is being investigated as a terrorist act. Law enforcement authorities have determined that a suicide bomber was at the wheel of the exploded Hyundai i20 car.
According to preliminary data, the suicide bomber is Dr. Umar Mohammad, who was allegedly a member of a terrorist group operating in the state of Haryana. The investigation has revealed that a mixture of ammonium nitrate and fuel (ANFO) was used as the explosive material. It is noteworthy that before carrying out the explosion, the car was parked for about three hours, and during that entire time, Mohammad did not leave the vehicle. As reported by NDTV, there is a theory that he was waiting for further instructions.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident under the anti-terrorism law. A representative of the Haryana state police stated that law enforcement officers have arrested two former owners of the exploded car to clarify their possible connection to the incident.
The investigation is also examining a possible link between this terrorist attack and the 2900 kg of explosive materials recently discovered in a neighboring state. Law enforcement officials do not rule out that both cases could be the result of the activities of the same terrorist network.
Videos circulating on the internet clearly show the moment of the explosion: a loud sound is heard, after which people flee in panic in different directions. This incident has raised serious concerns about the level of security in India, forcing security agencies to review anti-terrorism measures in the capital and other major cities.
