Over 1,000 Killed in Massive Landslide in Western Sudan

A large-scale tragedy has occurred in the Marra Mountains region of western Sudan. After several days of heavy rains, a landslide occurred, killing more than a thousand people.

This was reported by the Reuters agency, citing the Sudan Liberation Movement, which controls that region of Darfur.

According to the movement, only one resident was saved in the destroyed village; all the others died under a torrent of earth and stones. In connection with the disaster, local authorities have appealed to the UN and international humanitarian organizations, requesting immediate assistance, including the search for and recovery of the victims' bodies from the rubble.
