State of Emergency in New Jersey Ahead of Hurricane Erin

A state of emergency has been declared in the US state of New Jersey due to the approach of Hurricane Erin. This is reported on the website of the region's government.
According to the US National Hurricane Center, "Erin" is classified as a category two hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Currently, the wind speed within the weather phenomenon is 40 m/s. The hurricane is moving north along the US East Coast.
Earlier, authorities in the state of North Carolina had also declared a state of emergency. The hurricane brought large waves, torrential rains, and led to floods in the region.
Evacuations were carried out in some coastal areas. Similar consequences are expected in New Jersey during the passage of the storm. Currently, beaches have been closed in the state. It is noted that they will also be closed in the neighboring state of New York.
The hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean usually lasts for half a year, from the beginning of June to the end of November. An atmospheric phenomenon is classified as a tropical storm and receives a name if the wind speed within its boundaries reaches 17.5 m/s. At a speed of 33 m/s and higher, a storm is considered a hurricane.
