Starmer-Trump Meeting Focuses on £150bn US Investment in UK

Trump also complained about Putin, but not as harshly as European leaders would have liked. The US President stated that Putin had disappointed him. Trump once again recalled that he had managed to settle "seven wars," reports Sky News. However, according to him, the war between Russia and Ukraine, which he considered the "easiest" to settle due to his relations with Putin, has been more difficult.

Experts have also highlighted other details from the joint statements following the Starmer-Trump meeting. Accordingly, Starmer spoke about tariffs and investments for only five minutes, while Trump spoke for fifteen minutes about the "unshakable friendship" between the US and the UK. According to observers, the head of the British government did everything to avoid provoking the American president's displeasure. More than the foreign policy agenda, the parties focused their attention on financial issues. During the meeting, a package of American investments worth 150 billion pounds sterling in Great Britain was announced.

At the same time, in the public part, the British Prime Minister did not manage to get from Trump either a tough US position on Russia or specifics on the Ukraine issue.
