Starmer Faces Protests as Trump Arrives in UK

While US President Donald Trump is arriving in the UK, Prime Minister Keir Starmer is under political pressure and facing street protests. Politico writes about this.
As the publication notes, the prime minister's promise to end the political turmoil after 14 years of Conservative government has lost its luster since early September due to unpopular economic decisions and the successive departures of key allies. He is increasingly perceived as a political failure, with one of the lowest domestic support ratings among Western leaders.
Now leading in the polls is the Reform UK party, led by Trump ally Nigel Farage, which relies on a MAGA-style promise to "Make Britain Great Again," while MPs and ministers from Starmer's own party privately question their leader's political instincts.
Meanwhile, ministers are concerned after a rally in London on Saturday, organized by Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, known as Tommy Robinson, a far-right activist. In this regard, even Farage falls short of him.
The rally gathered support from up to 150,000 people. However, according to experts, the number of his supporters is much larger. Some are angry about years of economic stagnation, others condemn the government's approach to migrants arriving on British shores. Some are angry for both reasons.
So, during Trump's visit, Starmer will not be able to shine with the qualities of a popular leader. There is even a danger that Trump may witness protests against Starmer and his team. And all of this will directly or indirectly affect the mood, if not the agenda, of a new phase in Washington-London discussions.
