Simonyan in Madrid: Peace Declaration is a New Page

RA NA President Alen Simonyan, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom of Spain, participated in a reception in Madrid dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia, organized by the Armenian Embassy in Spain. The RA NA President delivered a welcoming speech.

Honorable guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is a great honor to be with you today at this solemn reception dedicated to the National Day of the Republic of Armenia.

Our National Day is not only a celebration of the declaration of Armenia's independence but also a reaffirmation of our commitment to the values we have adopted: freedom, resilience, peace, and democracy.

This year, our celebration has a very important message. On August 8, 2025, in Washington, with the support of President Donald Trump, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a Declaration that opens a new page in our history. It is an important milestone on the path to establishing long-term peace in our region, a peace that our peoples have long awaited and deserve.

We are glad to celebrate this important day in Madrid, a city that symbolizes cultural diversity, dialogue, and friendship. The relations between Armenia and Spain, based on mutual respect and common aspirations, are continuously developing in the political, economic, and cultural spheres. We highly value Spain's role as a partner both within the European Union and beyond its borders and look forward to the further deepening of our cooperation.

I extend special thanks to the Armenian community living in Spain, whose dedication and work have created a living bridge between our two peoples.

May this day be another occasion to further deepen the ties between Armenia and Spain for the well-being, peace, and prosperity of our peoples.
