Alen Simonyan Discusses Peace Process With Spanish Counterpart

RA NA President Alen Simonyan met with the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Francina Armengol Socias, in Madrid on September 24.

The focus of the interlocutors' discussions was the framework for the development of Armenia-Spain relations, with particular emphasis on the activation of inter-parliamentary ties, as well as cooperation in the economic, educational, and high-tech sectors. Reference was also made to Armenia-EU relations, issues related to the visa liberalization process, and the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia.

The issue of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, established in Washington, was particularly highlighted, in which context the President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies valued the signed documents, noting that Spain is a supporter of peace in the region.

Alen Simonyan also drew his colleague's attention to the problem of prisoners and illegally detained persons in Azerbaijan, emphasizing the issue of those considered missing.
