We have had up to 200 prisoners of war. Now, today, there are 23 confirmed prisoners of war. The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, stated this during a briefing. "Let's wait, and I am confident that thanks to these steps, the number of those prisoners will come to zero, and everyone will return," noted the NA President.
He reminded and reaffirmed that the Armenian authorities are consistently continuing their work to ensure the return of all compatriots held in Baku's prisons. Alen Simonyan expressed confidence that the efforts being made will definitely yield results.
Simonyan also placed special emphasis on the former military-political leadership of Artsakh, who are also in Azerbaijani prisons today. According to the official, the return process will apply to everyone without exception. He emphasized: "The then-leaders of Karabakh will also return, all the people who were captured and are in prisons there today will return. Our government has done and will do everything to ensure that everyone, without exception, returns to the Republic of Armenia."
Speaking about the basis for his optimism, Alen Simonyan clarified that his confidence is anchored in the tangible results of past work and the processes currently underway. He pointed to the significant decrease in the numbers as proof that the government's steps are effective. Simonyan stressed that the highest state bodies are dealing with the issue of the return of prisoners of war.
