Sevan Psychiatrist Accused of Taking Bribes

Apparent factual data have been obtained that the psychiatrist of the Sevan Mental Health Center demanded and received a bribe of about 1 million 50 thousand AMD and 5100 USD from a number of residents during April-June 2024. The Investigative Committee has released a statement about this.

"Specifically, H.H. for taking actions in favor of the sons of several community residents with mental health problems, namely, in exchange for a bribe, to organize the process of their exemption from military service, in the presence of a disease that is a basis established by legislation, for providing documents containing a diagnosis of their mental health and for the legal actions of obtaining a diagnosis exempting from military service, demanded and received in parts bribes of various amounts," the statement reads.

A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against H.H. for taking a bribe for patronage or other illegal action or inaction.

A restraining order, bail, and suspension from office have been applied to him as a preventive measure. The criminal proceeding with the indictment has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to confirm it and send it to court for substantive examination.
