The preliminary investigation of a criminal proceeding initiated in the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia has substantiated that the person holding the position of director of the "Noravan Secondary School" SNCO, during the period from 2021 to 2024, using his official powers, embezzled a large amount of money entrusted to him and also committed official forgery.
Specifically, it was found that during the above-mentioned period, the school director appointed acquaintances to relevant positions, who did not attend work at all and did not perform their duties. However, based on false time sheets compiled by the school's bursar and approved by the director, a total of about 2.7 million AMD was transferred to these individuals as salary, which was embezzled by the director.
For committing embezzlement and official forgery, the school director has been charged under Article 256, Part 2, Points 2 and 3 (3 episodes) and Article 445, Part 1 (3 episodes) of the RA Criminal Code. Administrative supervision and suspension from office have been chosen as combined measures of restraint against him. Charges have also been brought against three school employees who assisted the director, including the bursar, for whom suspension from office and a ban on leaving the RA have been chosen as combined measures of restraint. The damage of 2.7 million AMD caused was fully recovered during the preliminary investigation.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding has been completed. The materials of the proceeding with the indictment have been handed over to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to confirm it and send it to court.
