The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is studying the issue of opening consulates in Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. Alexey Klimov, director of the Consular Department of the Russian MFA, stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti. "In the CIS space, the issues of opening Russian consular offices in the cities of Kapan in Armenia, Aktau in Kazakhstan, and Samarkand in Uzbekistan are currently being studied," Klimov said, answering a question about the possibility of opening new consular offices.
To recall, in April of this year, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, had stated that there are multifaceted features regarding the issue of opening a Russian Consulate General in Kapan, and Moscow expects to reach concrete agreements on the timing of the opening of the Consulate General by May.
